Spring Find

I took my camera out to the woods last night to snap some shots of the daffodils. I love it when I find something like this volunteer, which appears to be some sort of dwarf iris. If you know what it is, please let me know in the comments.

Don't have a clue what it is, but it certainly is beautiful. What a great shot!

That would be exactly what you called it, a dwarf or miniature iris--iris reticulata. A lovely photo and what a nice thing to come upon while walking in the woods.

Stefanie, Thanks so much for the horticultural identification. It always amuses me when I find something that has probably been transplanted by a squirrel, after having been removed from one of the well-groomed gardens of my neighbors. That is probably the most likely way this appeared in my wooded yard. I'm glad that I get to enjoy it!

I can't believe it's been so long since I visited your blog.
It's lovely to receive a breath of spring from your side of the planet.
